Lorraine & Peter Finn 6/1 Elamang Avenue, Kirribilli December 2009 It was some 12 years ago whilst on a weekend trip to Sydney (from Brisbane) that we saw advertised several home units in Kirribilli that took our interest. We had committments for all Saturday, however Sunday was free. We contacted the relevant agents with a view to inspecting the properties. Results were disappointing, we were told Monday would be the earliest available appointment. As we were booked to return to Brisbane on Sunday evening Monday was out of the question, even when this was explained it made no difference. HOWEVER...there was one agent who went out of their way to accommodate us. Nothing was too much trouble. The rest as they say is history. We requested that the Greenwich house be sold by private treaty. In some ways it was not an easy deal to get done. Lea had to work very hard on it and we were very satisfied with the result she got for us. The Killara house sale came at a very difficult time in the housing market in the second half of 2008. We agreed with Lea's recommendation that it be sold by auction and marketed extensively. Again, Lea worked superbly to get several bidders at the auction and obtained a price which was above our reserve, a tough ask based on recent auctions in that area. As i had said to you on several previous occasions I felt it was practically an impossible sale due to several reasons: 1. The current state of the market, not exactly booming. And number 2, next door, had recently sold prior auction at a price that we both felt set a benchmark low for the immediate area. 2. The in-situ tenants who would not be vacating the premises until October 2009 3. The pre-auction campaign was expensive, costing me over $8000. in advertising fees alone.
